2017 is already shaping up to be a huge year for smartphones, and the LG G6 is one of the many reasons why. Still with quite a bit of time until we see the official announcement, we’re already hearing about the when and where. Early rumors suggest LG will be looking to launch the G6 at MWC which will take place the 1st week in March. If the announcement comes as expected, consumers worldwide may see the G6 available for retail starting at the end of March to mid-April.
This is slightly ahead of schedule when looking at the release date cycle that we’ve seen in previous LG G handsets, but one that doesn’t surprise us at all. There’s been a lot of speculation that LG is looking to move up all of their top flagships in 2017, especially the LG G6 release date. With Samsung looking to launch their Galaxy S8 around the same time, both will be looking to debut their newest handset first.
The LG G6 smartphone once again looks to be a premium handset with many enhancements expected. We’ve been hearing rumors on many concept changes including a much better display, faster processor, better durability, and some added features that have yet to be seen in any LG handset.
Probably the top feature we’re hoping to see is a retina eye scanner built in. The new eye sensing technology is something that’s being rumored in many of the top upcoming smartphones including the LG G6 as we’ve known it’s only a matter of time. A retina eye scanner would allow for seamless and convenient locking and unlocking you phone making it much more secure. Also, with mobile payment gateways starting to become more and more popular, the eye scanner will make it much more secure.
Other rumors on the specs include 4K display, full metal composite outer body, new Gorilla Glass protection, octa-core processor clocked at over 3GHz, and much more. It’ll be interesting to see if the official LG G6 release date announcement does come out of MWC which is also expected to showcase Samsung’s Galaxy S8 and many other high-end 2017 Android smartphones.
